Louisiana: Estuary Research

Researchers from the Department of Oceanography and Coastal Sciences at Louisiana State University are using PIT-tag detection systems to monitor marsh ponds in estuary locations near Empire, Louisiana. The study is part of a habitat enhancement research project. A variety of fish and blue crab within the study ponds were PIT-tagged and monitored with circular antennas placed at various locations within the estuary marsh ponds. Subsequently, the habitat within the study locations was enhanced to examine the affect and response of fish over time.
