Washington: Lower Baker Dam Adult Fish Facility, Baker River

Puget Sound Energy (PSE) designed a state-of-the-art adult fish facility below their Lower Baker Dam project. Biomark designed and manufactured a PIT-tag detection system for the new facility. The antenna array consists of three antennas housed inside of an aluminum shield. The array is positioned in the fish transfer flume upstream of a sorting gate. Biomark worked with Campbell Scientific, Inc. to provide an electronic pulse when a PIT-tag is detected. The pulse is used to control the position of the sorting gate and route fish to the various holding raceways according to research objectives.
