Biomark provides a variety of options for communicating with sites remotely. Communication options include Ethernet, wireless cell, telephone, or satellite. Remote communication allows researchers to control the reader remotely and retrieve PIT-tag detection and site diagnostic data in near real-time. Ethernet communication is commonly utilized at locations with an existing computer networks and grid power. At more remote locations, Biomark uses the Campbell Scientific Inc. (CSI) http://www.campbellsci.com CR1000 data logger as the foundation to the data collection and remote communication platform.
Working with CSI, Biomark has developed programs and protocols to manage detection, diagnostic, and environmental data (e.g., water and air temperature and water depth) from our remote sites. Remote communication results in a more consistent data set and reduces operation and maintenance costs.
